Hey Dads, this post is just for you. Your lovely wife, mother, sister, daughter (choose one) has been bugging you to clean up your garage, shed, office, workroom (choose one) for the past 49 weeks. Coincidentally, Mother’s Day is coming up. I bet your lovely wife, mother, sister, daughter would find so much more meaning in a tidied work area than a card and box of choccies. So pick a spot, any spot, and make a start. Here, let me help you…
First, come up with a plan – which area are you going to work on? What needs to be done?
Second, gather boxes and bags for rubbish, donate, recycling, and shredding (choose all that apply) and create a staging area.
Thirdly, start. Just start. It doesn’t matter where. The important thing is to just start. What are you going to do? You’re going to just start. Begin with low hanging fruit – what do you know you can get rid of?
Fourth, pace yourself. Set a timer and work for an hour, stop 5 minutes for a drink of water or cup of coffee. Observe what you accomplished in that hour – bet you didn’t think you’d get that much done, did you? Work another hour, and rest. Rinse and repeat.
Finally, congratulate yourself for a job well done and get ready for a huge smile on your lovely’s face!
